Four Forms of Namaste

Four Forms of Namaste

Four porters transporting lumber for lodge construction (there are no roads, you know) demonstrating four variations of the traditional "namaste" greeting. From left to right: 1) normal, 2) deep and respectful, 3) open palm "salute" common in East Nepal, and 4) enthusiastic version. Also observe that by 1990 three out of four porters wore shoes.

Photo circa 1990.
